Red Electric Trail Project update

Design is progressing on the Red Electric Trail Project. We anticipate having 60% design completed in January or February 2018. I will reach out to the neighborhood and business associations and SW Trails to attend their regularly scheduled meetings in March or April. The project should go to bid in Fall of 2018, but you may not see construction activity until Spring of 2019.

Red Electric Trail

The Red Electric trail is a proposed trail along the route of the old Red Electric tram line.

This trail will go west from Hillsdale somewhat paralleling, but staying south of, the Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway. You can learn more about it by downloading the pdf brochure.

Red Electric Trail Open House Feb 1, 6-8 pm

The Watershed Building in Hilldale, 6388 SW Capitol Hwy

The first of two planned open houses for the Red Electric Trail Project: SW Bertha to SW Vermont Section. The project will construct a new bike and pedestrian bridge between SW Capitol and SW Beaverton Hillsdale Highway. The Bureau of Transportation and the consultant team will present the current design alternatives and alignments being considered for the bridge as well as sidewalk improvements on SW Nebraska. The City is inviting the public to review the current design alternatives and provide feedback. A second open house will be scheduled for March to present the selected design concept. Light refreshments will be provided.

Request to move forward with the Red Electric Trail

A request to move forward with the Red Electric Trail was created jointly by the South Portland Neighborhood Association, the Hayhurst Neighborhood Association, the Hillsdale Neighborhood Association, the Hillsdale Business and Professional Association, and SW Trails.  This request was sent to Portland City Commissioners Amanda Fritz and Steve Novick.
